Dear Members and Alumni,

Highlights for February : there are two elections of import:

1). our own elections for certain seats on the board that are up for rotation as well as

2). the overall 2021 elections for the Board of Overseers and the at-large Elected Directors of the Harvard Alumni Association are about to begin.

1). HUAAS elections

- positions up for election: President, Secretary, two board seats. All fully paid up members are eligible to run. Please submit your interest here:

Nomination Form

We will close calls for nominations 11:59pm on Tuesday February 23

AGM on March 25

The Nominating Committee will be in contact with the Nominees as to the process and requirements, vet the Nominees as well as communicate to all HUAAS members the list of nominees to vote upon, and the voting period will be for & days up to the day before the AGM. Election results will be announced at the AGM (details of which will be announced, this year it will again be conducted on-line).

2) HAA elections for board of Overseers and Elected Directors

- Details for Voting will start on April 1st (please mark this date!!) and close on May 19th.

One in five Harvard Alumni live outside the United States. Currently, only two of the 36 Overseers and three of the 18 HAA Elected Directors live outside the US. Without our support, international candidates will struggle to be elected --- We need, and deserve, greater representation.

We know the international community has much to offer Harvard. We embody global perspectives, bringing to the table knowledge of the diverse communities in which we live and the challenges and opportunities across academia, business, culture, and politics.

We also know that having an international voice within the University is important to current international students and to our alumni community. Nothing could have made that clearer than the Asia Pacific students’ experience with remote learning this past year, where the much of the University failed to support them while they struggled with classes and exams in the middle of the night.

Participation in the elections for the Overseers and the HAA Elected Directors is one of the best ways that international alumni can express our support for Harvard, give voice to our international alumni community, and ensure an inclusive learning environment for international students.

We can start getting ready by reviewing the candidates nominated by the Board of the Harvard Alumni Association. Here is the link to the announcement of the candidates and short bios:

Fortunately for us, there are several international candidates, as well as candidates with significant international experience.

Announcement - HKS Women's Network

The mission of the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) Women’s Network is to connect, support and amplify the efforts of women and nonbinary people who are HKS students and alumnae in authentic, meaningful and powerful ways.

This includes:

Connecting women who are alumnae of the Harvard Kennedy School across geographies, backgrounds and areas of expertise;
Supporting and growing the community of women affiliated with HKS;
Partnering with the Harvard Kennedy School Office of Alumni Relations, current student body, the Women and Public Policy Program and Harvard University to strengthen the network and provide opportunities for collaboration and support;
Fostering a spirit of engagement around policy issues, systemic challenges, employment opportunities and other issues that may arise in the respective community; and
Organizing collectively to make the world more fair, equitable and just place for women, non-binary individuals, and those who identify as women in a way that is meaningful to them, everywhere.
