Well, I lasted till the midnight countdown to 2021 here in Singapore only due to a 10-minute power nap on someone’s shoulder at 1130pm - that seems like an appropriate summation of some of what 2020 has been!
Some say it will all be a blur in retrospect - although at times the minutes seemed to tick by excruciatingly slowly.
Whilst not under ideal circumstances (at all!) I do think we have now been drilled with the lessons of valuing friends and family, of valuing health and caring for people in the community. We have learned resilience and tried to find the extraordinary in the ordinary.
The full effects of the new COVID vaccines are not yet that known so there is still concern, but it does seem that we are on a path towards some greater semblance of normality than this past year has been. There will still be a battle to fight, but if anything, we have seen how strength from mutual support and love and the spirit of giving can sustain us.
Here is a virtual toast to everyone for a great 2021!!
