This is my last newsletter as President of HCS - no cause here for being sentimental, however, as I believe the Club has made great strides; the broad interest we have in the upcoming elections for the board speaks for itself and for that I am very proud.
We wanted to deepen and broaden the interest, support, and engagement from the alumni here, and we are on track.
We wanted to increase the membership, we wanted to further the interaction we have with the HBS Club, other university alumni clubs, and the community at large, we are on track as well.
There is much MUCH more we can do to improve what the Club does and how we do it, and that will be through you all.
We continue to have a good roster of varied events, but welcome more!! Please send us your ideas and thoughts and raise your hands to help.
In the meantime, I hope to see you on March 20th at our AGM, which will be followed by a cocktail reception with Provost Alan Garber.

March 9 - Climbing and Bouldering at GroundUp
|
|
Calling all Harvard climbers! The Club will hold a climbing get-together for alums at the Ground Up gym located at Level 2 of the Civil Service Club at 60 Tessensohn Road. Ground Up offers indoor top rope, bouldering and outdoor lead climbing areas. For first-timers, the gym offers a guided session to show you the ropes.

Day: Thursday, March 9, 2023
Time: 7:30 pm until closing (11:00 pm)
Location: GroundUp, Level 2 Civil Service Club, 60 Tessensohn Road S (217664)
Cost: Depends on whether you need to rent equipment, are a first-timer and need a guide, etc. Ranges from $22-$45. Fees will be paid to directly to Ground Up at the door.

We will be hosting again - in person - the Harvard Global Networking Night (GNN)! GNN is an Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) event held by numerous Harvard clubs and SIGs around the world.

Please sign up and attend our 2023 AGM on Monday March 20th. We NEED your presence!! The new slate of your board will be revealed; we will review the past year and outline what we have to look forward to in the next. You are the Club, and your participation and involvement are key elements to its vitality.
An additional exciting feature is that Provost Alan M. Garber - will also be present at the cocktail reception to follow. The last time he visited Singapore was several years ago so we are very excited that he has been able to come at this time.
We will hear from Provost Garber updates from the campus directly as well.

March - Harvard Club of Singapore Elections Update

The close of nomination submissions for the upcoming Harvard Club of Singapore (HCS) 2023 elections concluded on 20 February. The Nominating Committee thanks all our alumni who contemplated joining the HCS Committee. We are glad to share that an overwhelming response has been received this year with 13 submitted nominations for 5 open positions (President, Secretary and 3 Ordinary Committee Members).

The Nominating Committee is currently reviewing those nominations. At the time of writing this update, we have 2 nominees withdrawn their interest and 2 nominees disqualified (non-Harvard school alumnus and/or HCS Member).
|
Do look out for our email on 12 March when we launch the final list of nominees for a secret online ballot open to paid Members of HCS. Voting will then conclude at midnight on 18 March. We wish all the nominees best of luck then!

June 11 - (Save the Date) Krokodiloes in Singapore!
|
|
SAVE THE DATE: The Krokodiloes are coming again!! Harvard’s oldest a cappella group are back on schedule with their annual international tour, and will be performing with us on Sunday June 11th. We had such a great time with them last year.
