Dear Members and Alumni,

This month’s newsletter is a bit delayed - we will blame the end of year and new year festivities for our tardiness.

We will be coming out with the February edition on time as the HCS elections and AGM will be taking place at the end of March, and I would urge all of you who can (full members of the Club) to attend and vote, and even run for a board seat if you have the interest and time; we are always eager to attract new members to participate.

The Dean of GSAS is slated for a visit to Singapore mid-February -please see the details below. It is a trip we are all very excited about, as it is part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of GSAS.

Best wishes to everyone for 2023,
Rebecca Woo

March - Harvard Club of Singapore elections

Harvard Club of Singapore Elections

The annual Harvard Club of Singapore (HCS) election season will commence soon and this year, we have the following 4 open positions for voting: President, Secretary and 3 Ordinary Committee Members. Please note that all offices are 2-year positions, all alumni are eligible to participate in the annual election and are encouraged to do so.

The HCS Committee is the steward to advance the mutual welfare of Harvard University and its alumni in Singapore and thus also represents the best interests of our Harvard alumni here. The HCS Committee is made up of volunteers who are elected, and have a passion to a) manage an active event calendar for social and professional development activities; b) grow the HCS active membership base; c) improve the quality of relationships in the Harvard community, and d) maintain a dispersed leadership model for broad participation from various segments within the Harvard community and alumni.

We encourage our alumni here to contribute to the Club by being a member of the Committee. Those who are interested in participating in the election should prepare a personal statement on the reasons for running and what the candidate hopes to accomplish for the Club.

The nomination submission window will be opened on 6 Feb. We will circulate the instructions for submission on that date via an email.

The timeline for this year’s election process is as follows:
• 6 till 20 February: HCS accepts candidate nomination form and personal statement on reasons for running and what the candidate hopes to accomplish for the Club
• 6 till 20 February: Nominating Committee reviews all nominations
• 20 February: Close of nominations
• 12 till 18 March: Voting by secret online ballot and the results will be announced during our AGM to be held on 20 March

Thus keep an eye out for our email on 6 February and we look forward to your participation then!
