SUMMARY:Workshop: Build your own AI agents
DESCRIPTION:The Harvard Club of Singapore\, together with the Old Rafflesians’ Association\, invites you to a hands-on Saturday workshop where you build your own AI agents. This is a working session\, not a demo — you’ll leave having built agents of your own for personal use. \n\n\n\n\nOver two hours we’ll cover what an AI agent actually is\, the handful of patterns that make agents useful in real work\, and how to put them together sensibly. Then we build: from a blank slate\, through prompts and tools\, to working agents you can continue developing at home.\n\n\n\nWho it’s for: alums who want practical fluency rather than more theory. No prior coding experience is required — you should just be comfortable finding your way around your own laptop.\n\n\n\nCapacity is capped on purpose. We want the session to be hands-on with a comfortable troubleshooter-to-participant ratio. Volunteer troubleshooters from the Harvard and Rafflesian alumni communities will be on hand throughout to help you build\, debug and improve your agents throughout the session.\n\n\n\nPrerequisite: a paid Claude Pro subscription (S$25/month)\, and we will also send you basic instructions via email so you come prepared.\n\n\n\nBring: a laptop with at least two hours of power (charging points are limited) + hot-spot from your mobile phone. DESCRIPTION:Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is one of the world’s oldest systems of healthcare\, with a history spanning thousands of years.  Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or disease\, TCM views health as a state of balance and harmony within the body and between the individual and their environment. \n\n\n\nJoin us for entertaining and informative presentations by veteran Singaporean practitioner Dr. Zhang Lei and The Harvard Club of Singapore’s own Peter Lam\, exploring how TCM and Western Medicine approach health and longevity differently\, yet from complementary perspectives. \n\n\n\nYour ticket will include the 2-hour expert-session\, a light meal\, and a complimentary VIP Gift Bag valued at over $500\, featuring wellness items from our honored event sponsors and co-hosts\, to encourage you along in your own wellness-and-longevity journey. \n\n\n\nPresentation topics will include: \n\n\n\n1.⁠ ⁠Understanding the Foundations of TCM\n\n\n\n\nThe core concepts of Qi\, Blood\, Yin and Yang\n\n\n\nHow TCM views health\, disease\, and aging\n\n\n\nWhy prevention and balance are central to the TCM philosophy\n\n\n\n\n2.⁠ ⁠East Meeting West\n\n\n\n\nHow TCM and Western Medicine assess health and diagnose imbalances differently\n\n\n\nThe TCM concept of the kidneys as the foundation of vitality and healthy aging\n\n\n\nWhy digestive health is considered by TCM to be the cornerstone of long-term wellness\n\n\n\nHow to leverage the strengths of Eastern and Western approaches and what are the practical strategies\n\n\n\n\nFeel free to bring along any specific questions you may have\, and join us for these edifying presentations on achieving optimal wellness and longevity by utilising the “best of both worlds.” \n\n\n\nDr. Zhang Lei\n\n\n\nDr. Zhang Lei is a senior Singaporean physician with over 30 years of clinical experience\, specializing in integrative oncology and complex chronic conditions.  Dual-trained in Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine\, he combines both systems to deliver evidence-informed\, patient-centered care supporting patients through chemotherapy\, radiotherapy\, immunotherapy\, and long-term chronic disease management. \n\n\n\nHe holds a degree in Western Medicine from Tianjin Medical University and a Master’s degree from NUS Medical School.  He worked as a clinical researcher in oncology at Singapore General Hospital focusing on cancer treatment and molecular gene research\, and led acupuncture clinical research for Singapore’s first government-established acupuncture institute\, the Acupuncture Research Clinic\, the first pilot clinic at Ang Mo Kio Community Hospital set up by MOH in 1995 to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture. He was featured in the inaugural Singapore Book of Records as the only physician in Singapore holding both an NUS medical Master’s degree and a dual Chinese-Western Medicine qualification. \n\n\n\nPeter Lam\n\n\n\nPeter Lam is a PhD candidate in Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technology University\, holds a Master’s degree from Harvard’s School of Public Health\, and is a Member of the Harvard Club of Singapore.  He is trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine\, giving him a unique background that bridges TCM and biomedical science.  His doctoral research focuses on gut health.
