He is also Professor of Nutrition and Epidemiology at the School\, and Professor of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. \n\n\n\nDr. Chavarro’s research focuses on understanding how nutritional\, lifestyle\, and metabolic factors impact human reproduction and reproductive milestones throughout the life course\, and how these events impact other aspects of health. \n\n\n\nHe is principal investigator of the Nurses’ Health Study 3\, an ongoing\, open\, web-based prospective cohort study of more than 50\,000 women. He also leads nutrition research within the EARTH Study\, which follows couples undergoing infertility treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital\, and is co-investigator of Project Viva\, where he focuses on women’s health throughout the life course.

DESCRIPTION:Guest-of-Honour Mr Heng Swee Keat\, once a Prize Book recipient himself\, returns to honour 25 young Singaporeans recognised not for grades\, but for character and service.A rare members-only afternoon at SGX: awards ceremony\, tea reception\, and an exclusive small-group tour of the Exchange.The Harvard Prize Book is the Club’s longest-running tradition. Each year\, schools across Singapore nominate one pre-tertiary student whose character — not their results — sets them apart: the classmate who organises a tutoring circle in a rental block\, the dancer teaching kids in a children’s home\, the student council president who quietly visits a sick teacher every Saturday. DESCRIPTION:Join fellow Harvard alumni and guests for an engaging fireside conversation with Richard Eu\, Chairman of Eu Yan Sang\, one of Asia’s most enduring and respected healthcare brands.  \n\n\n\nEu Yan Sang’s 147-year history can be traced back to its establishment by Richard’s great-grandfather\, Eu Kong in the small mining town of Gopeng\, Perak\, Malaysia\, in 1879. He noticed the tin mine coolies were heavily dependent on opium as the easiest method for immediate relief for their medical needs. He is the Chairman of Eu Yan Sang International (EYSI) and leads the board in providing governance oversight\, deliberating Group strategy and providing counsel to the Group CEO. \n\n\n\nRichard has been at the heart of Eu Yan Sang’s transformation — steering it from its origins as a traditional apothecary founded by his great‑grandfather in 1879 to a modern\, global wellness brand spanning retail\, digital health\, and an extensive range of products. Since joining the business in 1989\, and later serving as Group CEO from 2002 to 2017\, he has been instrumental in shaping EYSI into one of Asia’s leading TCM groups. He was elected Vice President of the Singapore Heritage Society in 2016 to promote public education and advocacy. Khir enjoys writing articles and giving talks on history\, heritage and culture.Khir Johari’s book\, The Food of Singapore Malays: Gastronomic Travels Through The Archipelago\, has achieved significant acclaim\, winning the Best Of All prize at the 2025 Gourmand Cookbook Awards (considered the “Oscars” of culinary publishing) and the 2024 NUS Singapore History Prize. SUMMARY:A Dermatologist’s Fight Against Human Trafficking: Launching the First Pro Bono Tattoo Removal Program at Harvard
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an inspiring talk by Dr. Shadi Kourosh\, the founder of Harvard’s Pro Bono laser clinic and tattoo removal program—the first of its kind—dedicated to supporting survivors of human trafficking. \n\n\n\nYou might wonder\, what do tattoos have to do with human trafficking? Many traffickers and gangs brand their victims with tattoos to mark and control them. Dr. Kourosh’s innovative program helps remove these painful\, dangerous markers\, offering survivors a fresh start. \n\n\n\nHuman trafficking—which includes both labor and sex trafficking—affects people of all genders\, backgrounds\, and ages. A landmark study has found that 88% of trafficked survivors reported passing through the healthcare system unnoticed\, largely due to gaps in training and lack of treatment protocol. Dr. Kourosh’s work has led to the creation of an international task force that unites doctors\, NGOs\, the WHO\, and government agencies and the first international registry to recognise skin signs of trafficking. \n\n\n\nTattoo removal often requires many costly laser treatments\, making it inaccessible to most survivors. Harvard’s pro bono clinic has inspired dermatologists nationwide to volunteer their expertise. Dr. Kourosh has consolidated these efforts in a smartphone app called SSTEAR\, which also provides educational resources and a toolkit for healthcare workers who may encounter trafficking victims. In HCS’s inaugural virtual session\, Dr. Kourosh will share her journey in fighting against human trafficking and how we can work together to better identify trafficked victims and ultimately end this global crisis altogether. \n\n\n\nShadi Kourosh\, MD\, MPH\, is a board certified dermatologist and Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. Come be part of a meaningful volunteering session with Re:Nue! \n\n\n\nRe:Nue\, which is the social enterprise arm of The Salvation Army. By re-using\, recycling\, restoring and selling donations in-kind\, Re:Nue generates income and provide holistic care to the community (https://www.salvationarmy.org.sg/wwd-renue/).Attire: Strictly long pants with covered shoes \n\n\n\nTask: Sorting donated goods into categories such as clothes\, toys\, etc.\, or any other ad-hoc duties \n\n\n\nIf you have any preloved items (clothing\, shoes\, bags\, toys\, etc.) you wish to donate\, please bring them along on the day as well. \n\n\n\nPlease note that all volunteers need to be at least 16 years old.
