SUMMARY:GE2025: What’s Really at Stake
DESCRIPTION:As Singapore heads toward its next General Election\, the undercurrents of change\, both subtle and significant\, are beginning to surface.   GE2025: What’s Really at Stake is a one-hour\, no-holds-barred conversation featuring compelling voices from Singapore’s political and civic landscape\, including Viswa Sadasivan and Inderjit Singh\, who bring years of public service\, business experience\, and social insight to the table.   This session will delve into the key issues expected to shape GE2025\, from rising concerns around inequality and cost of living\, to jobs\, climate\, and the expectations of a younger\, more vocal electorate. It will examine how the political landscape is evolving\, and reflect on how the social compact is being renegotiated; and how trust\, transparency\, and inclusive governance will define Singapore’s path forward. More than just a preview of the electoral season\, this is a timely opportunity to unpack the deeper currents that may shape Singapore’s future — and to ask\, together\, what’s really at stake.  Speakers’ Bio Inderjit Singh is a former Singaporean Member of Parliament (1996–2015) known for his candid critiques within the ruling People’s Action Party and his advocacy for entrepreneurship; he founded the semiconductor firm UTAC and continues to mentor startups and advise on innovation policy.     Viswa Sadasivan\, a former Nominated Member of Parliament (2009–2011)\, is a veteran broadcaster and CEO of Strategic Moves – a corporate strategy practice. He is recognized for his independent voice on national issues\, including his notable parliamentary motion on the tenets of the pledge. He founded and hosts the sociopolitical discussion platform “Inconvenient Questions” or IQ. Viswa is an HKS alumni (1992).

SUMMARY:A Guided Tour of Silent Voices – Still Life Paintings of Pierre Boncompain\, Ziad Dalloul and Denis Lage
DESCRIPTION:A Guided Tour of Silent Voices – Still Life Paintings of Pierre Boncompain\, Ziad Dalloul and Denis LagetCome join us for an exclusive and educational tour of “Silent Voices”\, an art exhibition co-presented by Alliance Française de Singapour and Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery\, that explores the enduring resonance of still life through the works of Pierre Boncompain\, Ziad Dalloul\, and Denis Laget. Once rooted in quiet observation\, the still life genre has evolved over centuries to reflect not only material abundance\, but also emotional depth\, formal experimentation\, and conceptual ideas.   Pierre Boncompain’s luminous compositions evoke the warmth of Mediterranean life\, blending Matisse-like simplicity with Bonnard’s harmonious palettes\, embodying his belief that “painting is creating silence”. Ziad Dalloul’s “nature silencieuse” transforms everyday objects into meditations on the intimate world of lived spaces\, expansive landscapes\, and the tension between stillness and change. Denis Laget draws from the vanitas tradition\, creating textured floral works that confront the fragility of beauty and the transience of life. Together\, their works reveal the timeless appeal of still life as a powerful medium for reflection and reinvention.   Join us for a guided tour by Ms Timmy Kam\, where she will help us to better understand and explore the unique voices of those three artists\, and how each of them redefines the still life genre in their own interesting way. This art exhibition\, which is also presented as part of vOilah!
