Since at least the industrial revolution, capitalism has done an amazing job of driving the world’s economic growth. There have been hiccups, certainly. A monopoly here, abusive labor practices there, but the rise of the middle class owes its existence to the free exercise of capitalism. Other systems? They were tried but crashed. Now, with all that is going on around us, should we ask if capitalism needs a version 2.0? As wealth concentrates, is capitalism destabilizing society? Is there a better way?
