Talk on Claude Monet and His Legacy as a Living Influence
2026 marks the centennial of Claude Monet’s passing in Giverny. Please join us for an art talk that takes a closer look at Monet’s legacy as a living influence. Tracing his artistic journey and sharing lesser-known stories, this session will examine how Monet is not merely a founder of Impressionism, but a continuing force whose artistic vision still resonates across generations and geographies. Led by Catherine Kwai, Founder and CEO of Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery, this talk will trace the birth of Impressionism and examine Monet’s singular artistic journey — one marked by constant evolution and a lifelong pursuit of perception through light and color. The talk will further reflect on the reasons behind Monet’s enduring influence across different regions and eras, as well as consider his position within today’s global art market.
There will also be an exclusive guided gallery tour prior to the talk whereby attendees will view and learn more about paintings by Monet, Zao Wou-ki, Lalan, Chu Teh-Chun, Li Huayi, and Ziad Dalloul.

About Catherine Kwai
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Catherine Kwai has developed her passion for art and philosophy since childhood. After a successful 10-year career in the banking industry, she established Kwai Fung Culture & Communications in 1991.
Over three decades, her business has developed into four separate companies, each with its own direction and mission in art: Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery, Kwai Fung Art Consultants, Kwai Po Collection and Kwai Fung Art Publishing House. In 2020, Catherine set up Kwai Fung Foundation for the advancement of education, research and intellectual exchange on Chinese modern and contemporary art in Hong Kong. Aside from gallery exhibitions, Catherine has also collaborated with renowned museums and cultural institutes in China and Hong Kong, curating and co-organising many high-profile and influential exhibitions.
