Harvard Meets Singapore: An Evening of Conversation on Asia, America, and the World Ahead
Featuring Professors Michael Puett and Jay Rosengard, Harvard University
19 May @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Join fellow Harvard alumni and guests for an intimate dinner and conversation featuring two Harvard faculty whose work sits at the intersection of Asia, America, and the forces reshaping the world in 2026.
The Harvard Asia Center’s Southeast Asia Initiative
Professor Michael Puett, Director of the Harvard University Asia Center, will share the vision and goals behind Harvard’s new Southeast Asian Studies programme — an ambitious effort to build a world-class academic home for the study of a region that is increasingly central to global affairs. This is an opportunity to hear directly from the architect of this initiative, and to offer your perspective as members of the Singapore community.
Traversing Trumpenomics: Navigating United States Macro and Fiscal Challenges
Professor Jay Rosengard, Adjunct Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, will examine President Trump’s principal domestic and international economic policies against the backdrop of current macroeconomic and fiscal trends in the United States — including the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and the administration’s sweeping tariff agenda. Professor Rosengard will also explore what Trumpenomics means for Singapore and its SEAsian neighbours.
Professor Teren Sevea, Alwaleed bin Talal Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies at Harvard and a leading scholar of Islam and Muslim societies in Southeast Asia, will also be joining us as a guest for the evening.
