HCS AGM and Reception with Provost Alan Garber

We conducted our annual AGM on 20th March at the One Farrer hotel. The AGM was well attended, during which we introduced the newly elected committee members as well as passed several resolutions. After the AGM, we were greeted to a generous reception with Provost Alan Garber who provided us updates from campus as well as answer questions about equity and fairness in admissions. Congratulations...

Evening Reception with Vice Provost Mark Eliot and Professor James Robson

A cozy group of alumni had a lovely evening with Vice Provost Mark Eliot and Prof James Robson that started as a discussion which morphed into cocktails and then finally a chicken rice dinner. Mark Eliot likened his role at times as Harvard’s “Chief International Officer”; and clearly both these senior faculty members were on a mission to engage and connect with the international alumni and...

The US Boarding School Experience

Jody Soja, an HGSE alum and the Head of School of Indian Mountain School, held a very informative presentation to a small group of alumni parents who had interest in learning about the US boarding school system in general. Jody shared her wealth of knowledge on both the senior and the junior boarding schools themselves and was also able to talk extensively on the students’ experiences at all...

Harvard Club of Singapore Annual Dinner

We held our Annual Dinner on Nov 10 at the Regent Hotel. The dinner was graced by DPM Lawrence Wong, who awarded T. Sasitharan with the 3rd HCS Fellow Award. It was great to see fellow Alumni members congregate together again for our annual dinner after a two-year hiatus.
Wishing everyone a happy holiday season ahead!

Tea with Prof Alastair Iain Johnston – China’s Viewpoint and Approach to International Orders

Our chat with Professor Iain Johnston developed into a near three hour lively discussion on China vs US relations and behaviour, crisis containment policies, posturing within the global geopolitical landscape, and many other nuances of political strategies and tactics.  Over a dozen Harvard alumni participated with many different viewpoints.  We would welcome Prof Johnston back any time!

Ideas Lunch on AI

This lunch gathering is a mixer with Carnegie Mellon University Alumni Association of Singapore. We had a short sharing by Jason See (senior director of GovTech) followed by a hearty discussion and networking among industry professionals.

Both tables were full, and most attendees stayed beyond two hours!

The discussion spanned all aspects from government initiatives to greenwashing to frameworks of measurement/comparison to motivations to effect change, and more. We look forward to perhaps doing more joint...

Harvard Krokodiloes in Singapore

We had an amazing evening with the Krokodiloes on June 14, 2022. They were on their first global tour since 2019, and the Sundaram Tagore gallery generously hosted our event – with the beautiful backdrop of the colorful artwork by Neha Vedpathak, an Indian-born Detroit based female artist. This was our first “large” scale social event in effectively 2.5 years, where 50-ish alumni and...
