It is officially the summer!! - and a social one. Beginning with the mixer at the end of June with Cornell, we have another gathering in July with Columbia and Cornell followed by yet another joint get-together at the end of August with Yale Club of Singapore. Apparently - it seems that we actually like seeing fellow human beings!! - especially after two years of very limited interaction.
I, for one, am delighted with these steps towards a return to normalcy; and personally will be travelling for most of the next month and a half; but I hope to see you all at the end of August.
We have recently also made some upgrades and changes to our website; hopefully it is now more user friendly and informative.
Please let us know if you would like to become more active with our committee; we always welcome new faces and new energy!

The HBS Club of Singapore is pleased to invite you to a virtual session with HBS Professor Josh Lerner about The Venture Capital โBig Bangโ and Its Aftermath: Supernova or Black Hole?. Professor Lerner will talk about the reasons behind the dramatic surge in venture capital activity worldwide in 2021, which far eclipsed 2000 and earlier venture peaks. He will also talk about how this will affect the nature of entrepreneurship in the years to come and what should venture and angel investors anticipate in the future.
Josh Lerner is the Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking at Harvard Business School. He graduated from Yale College with a special divisional major that combined physics with the history of technology. He worked for several years on issues concerning technological innovation and public policy at the Brookings Institution, for a public-private task force in Chicago, and on Capitol Hill. He then earned a Ph.D. from Harvard's Economics Department. Much of his research focuses on venture capital and private equity organizations. This research is summarized in Boulevard of Broken Dreams, The Money of Invention, Patent Capital, and The Venture Capital Cycle.
