Art, Science, and Buddhism: What is Left Unsaid? By Professor Eugene Wang, 7 August 2023

In an office conference room surrounded by a fantastic view of the National Gallery, Parliament House and the Padang, Harvard Professor Eugene Wang guided us through the evolution of Buddhist art from the 1920s to modern era, which he concisely did by explaining how various schools of thought and significant historical personalities apply art and science to shape Buddhist art into what it is now. He also shared an interesting video created by Harvard FAS CAMLab that applies virtual reality and cutting-edge media technology to engage and transport participants beyond the here and now, across the continuum of time and space to showcase some aspects of Buddhist art.

Last but not least, Professor Eugene Wang concluded his talk with an engaging Q&A session, in which he generously gave more than 30mins of his time to our alumni present. We wish Professor Eugene Wang a safe trip back to Boston during Singapore’s National Day and look forward to hosting him again in the near future.
